Do I need to use a cake and candles? Not anymore! While the majority of Candle Lighting ceremonies still incorporate "candles" most have done away with the cake long ago (bring on the s'mores bar instead!)
But are you limited to candles? Not at all!
What's your theme? Let your imagination - or mine - be free!
* Doing a baseball theme? Have honored guests come up and sign bats or sign a a ball and toss it into a glass vase to keep as a memento.
* Love puzzles? Take pictures of your child with the guests of honor - or just one large picture of them- and have them made into a puzzle and have each group of guests called up add the puzzle piece to a frame.
* L'Chaim - have guests pour a drink into a giant glass and make a toast at the end of the ceremony.
Candy theme - have guests pour solid color m&m's or other candies like gumballs or jellybeans that you can buy in solid colors and create a rainbow in a large clear cylinder.
